Given the outlook for public finances, the demand for good evidence that enables more informed spending decisions seem set to increase. Value for money (VFM) has become an overriding concern and organisations seeking public funding will increasingly have to prove themselves in these terms. The toolkit introduces the main types of economic analysis used in public policy making, with a specific focus on health and wellbeing and allows Living Well projects to demonstrate how their work can contribute to cost savings.
This easy to follow toolkit will help those involved to understand how to appraise the economic merits of their project. It shows projects how to estimate funding costs to establish whether they are worthwhile or not, it outlines the Five Steps to ‘Showing a Social Return on Investment’ covering benefits, costs and values, limitations and uncertainties as well as including a brief summary of how to list relevant outcomes and items.
The toolkit has now been issued to the 29 projects within the portfolio.
